When I was a young boy growing up, I was fortunate enough to be around Charles. I loved cars and Charles loved to help others, so while I knew nothing about cars at the time Charles was more than willing to help me keep my older model car running and moving down the road. I will be forever great full for that experience.
Leroy was my cousin, his mother and my mother were sisters. I didn’t get to see him much after we were kids. His parents Buster and Flora would come see us when we lived north of Cushing near the river. I remember one time when they came for a visit and Leroy and I decided we where going to smoke but we didn’t have any cigarettes so we where in the hay barn and decided we would just light a piece of straw and pretend it was a cigarette, (Leroy was about 8 years older than me ), not sure which one of us threw the straw down but we set the barn on fire. We both had Dads that we were afraid of because we knew we would get a busting. Well we took off for the woods and stayed there until in the night, the barn didn’t burn down and I didn’t get a busting, don’t know if Leroy got one or not.
