I just saw this posting and am sorry to see Bob passed before his time. I remember He was my first supervisor at Amoco after I graduated from business school in 1981. This was in the Controllers department of Amoco Production. He seemed to be the youngest such person in a management role, supervising a bunch of newly minted MBAs which could not have been easy. But he was a very positive person and knew how to manage upwards which was not a term used in those days. I know we did not make it easy for him but he did an excellent job of training us and teaching us the business. He also taught a number of us how to play softball in Chicago without using a glove; a crazy tradition but glad to have had the experience.
My sincere condolences to the family for losing him so early.
