My sympathy to a wonderful family for your loss. My brother just sent this too me, so although late in coming, I want to express my deepest condolences. I lived next door to the Woods in Tennessee and have often thought about your family over these years and wondered how Stewart and Linden were doing. Mr. Wood was a very nice man and treated all of kids in the neighborhood kindly. I have many fond memories of the family including a really cool summer spent in Hot Springs, Arkansas on the lake. Love to your family.

When I was an 18-year-old from Blytheville, Arkansas (1954)seeking information about how to get into broadcasting, I visited Trent at WMCT in downtown Memphis (can’t remember the name of that building). He was extremely nice to me and welcomed me to broadcasting. He introduced me to longtime WMCT stalwart Dick Hawley, to Bill Gilliland (later with CBS). I am just now learning of Trent’s passing, which I deeply regret. I shall always remember his kindness and helpfulness at an important point in my life. I am now age 83 and a retired radio station owner.

I am from Tupelo,Mississippi,the northeast section of the state.But the Tupelo television viewing area is primarily the Memphis vicinity.I watched ''Looney Zoo'' countless times as well as ''Film Funnies'' with Trent Wood as the host.Trent also impressed me as a local t.v. show host on WMCT-TV/Channel 5 of Memphis along with being a news and weather reporter and announcer not to mention commercial doer.He along with the late Dick Hawley,Norman Brewer,Don Hickman,Jim Stone,and Jack Eaton were awesome and extra well cross-trained.These type of men were real professionals and set some of the nations top examples of television entertainment,news,broadcasting,and core of values.I didn't know Trent and his wife had moved from Memphis to Oklahoma until I was a college student,and saw it in the Commercial Appeal.I was glad to find out Trent's whereabouts.He will be deeply,widely,and doubly missed.

Remembering the many gatherings from the past that mother and I were a part of. I was visiting a friend in Raleigh and it was your house. I knew it looked familiar. Mother is doing well and still getting around. She will be 93 on the 22nd. She was going through some old papers and came across articles and oyster casserole from Dr. and Mrs. Wood which brought back memories. If we could see him now, he's resting in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by mom and dad. It's a land where there's no sickness, aches and pain and we're never grow old.Mabel and Johnetta Phillips

My Mother (Sissy DeMere) was a classmate of Mr. Wood's at Southwestern. She always spoke of projects that they were involved in, and what fun they had. (Later, she arranged for my sister and I to appear several times as toddlers on the old morning children's show.) Mother once said that he was the most handsome guy any of us had ever met, referring to her fellow classmates. Always perfectly groomed and spoke perfect diction.Always the consummate professional in public and in private, on air or off, he was the best, or as I heard him say a few times….He was "tops!" Channel 5 maintained the title "show place of the south" and Mr. Wood was a main reason it remained the same for so many years.Thank you for so many great memories Mr. Wood. Mostly, for showing me how the golden rule really works! Treating others as you would want them to treat you. There is no doubt in my mind that you are in Heaven today having a great old time!

I knew Trent from our days at WHBQ in Memphis back during the 60's. He was a pleasure to be around and always had time to say hello to a youngster just starting out in the News Department. Mr. Wood features in one of my often told stories from childhood. My parents took my to the TV station in Memphis to watch Looney Zoo. We just happened to be passing at showtime and went in on the chance we might see the show. The child who was scheduled to be on the show was not talking, not at all. So, Mr. Wood came over to my parents and asked, "Will she talk?" I suddenly found myself in front of the lights and I talked. I talked enough to say things I have been tortured with for years. My father passed away this week as well. The two of them were kind, gentle men. I send my condolences to your family.

I only met Trent several times about 10 years ago, but I know of his love of jazz first hand. I own Blue Moon Discs and I bought several hundred jazz records from him. He was a very nice man and had some fantastic records. While I bought them to sell, I ended up keeping most of them because of the wonderful care and the little newspaper and magazine reviews he attached to many of them. Each record had Mr. Woods name, a date and "on tape" printed in the middle of the back cover. Every time I play one of those records I am reminded of his reluctance in parting with them even though they were "on tape". Condolences to family and friends.
