Jacob Lee Craig

Jacob Lee Craig, 31, died suddenly on December 25, 2017 in Tulsa, OK. Jacob was born on May 11, 1986 in Tulsa, OK to his parents Joe Craig II and Kimberly (Williams Craig) Flanagan. He graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, but Jacob’s pursuit of education, knowledge, and enlightenment did not end there.

One could describe Jacob as a “professional learner”. He had an eclectic array of interests, which included art, photography, physics, philosophy, psychology, card tricks, and Stock Market trading, just to name a few. Jacob sought to learn something new every day of his life. Jacob was the kind of person that studied for the LSAT and MCAT just for fun. He was also a collector – a gift he inherited from his grandmother, Barbara, and his Papa Joe. From coins to baseball cards, comics to antiques, action figures to unique yard sale treasures, Jacob could find value, meaning, and beauty in just about anything.

Most of all, Jacob was a big kid at heart.  With a sharp wit, contagious laugh, and mischievous sense of humor, Jacob possessed the ability to make anyone smile. He was a horror movie buff, conspiracy theorist, and could tell you everything you ever wanted to know about any super hero or villain you could think of. Often referred to as “The Animal Whisperer”, Jacob had a gift for calming even the most untamed of animals, and loved his dogs “Ren” and “Jonesie (aka Googie), and his cat “Kibby”.

Jacob spent many years battling mental illness and addiction, following the particularly difficult losses of his father, Joe; fiancé, Sandi; unborn daughter, Lily; and special friend, Tess Gonsalves. While he was unable to overcome that battle, he continued to love his family deeply, and lived every day of his life for his son, Jude, who describes his father as “the smartest and funniest daddy ever”.

Jacob is survived by his son, Jude Craig; his mother, Kimberly (Williams Craig) Flanagan; his stepfather, Keith Flanagan; his sister, Maggie Flanagan; his niece, Gemma Martin; his best friend and son’s mother, Amanda Moran; maternal grandfather, Jack Williams; paternal grandmother, Meredith Greenwood; great aunt and uncle Robert and Darlene Carpenter; maternal uncle, Jack Williams, maternal aunts, Pat Sirkis, and Lori Blough; paternal aunts, Melissa Murphy, Tonya Jones, and Tina Craig; numerous cousins, and long-time friends, Scott Lorimor, Ben Williams, and Rachel Wise.

Jacob is preceded in death by his father, Joe Craig II; his fiancé Sandra Stevens; his daughter, Lily Jo Craig; paternal grandfather, Joe Craig (Papa Joe); maternal grandmother, Barbara Williams; and good friend, Tess Gonsalves.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Tulsa, OK. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jacob’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to, to support Jude’s future education.

    Written by: Kim Flanagan

My heart is shattered, I cry every day thinking about your big hugs and “love you Mom” even if you were upset with me. I still don’t know how I’m going to make it without you. I’m watching over Jude and Amanda, your sister and niece. Please let me feel your awesome love in some way every day. You are my life Jackers and this broken heart is still beating and missing her baby terribly 💔 😢. Love you always, Mom
