Jimmy Ray

Jimmy Ray, 78 of Jenks, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with family by his side.  He was born July 9, 1940 in Poteau, Oklahoma to his parents, Rev Clarence Ray and Nadine Carden Ray.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of over 22 years, Kay Ray of the home; daughter, Paula Ray-Armstrong of Catoosa, Oklahoma; son Leroy Ray of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Lisa Ray Stillman of St. Louis, Missouri; step-daughter, Jan Stevenson of Jenks, Oklahoma; son, Brad Ray of Jefferson City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kristy, Josh, Nicole, Amber, Elisia, Braden, and Hailee; five great-grandchildren, Addison, Lizzi, Lainey, Elliana, and Jiries; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev Clarence and Nadine Ray; brothers Harold Ray and Duane Ray; and grandson, Michael Andrew Armstrong.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow with military honors at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.

Jimmy was the oldest of 3 boys born to Rev Clarence and Nadine Ray.  When Jimmy was a young child his family moved to California where his family worked in the cotton fields during the day. In the evening and on Sunday, his Dad preached the Gospel to the workers. They moved from farm to farm until the harvest season was over. Around 1952 they returned to Oklahoma where his Dad Pastored his first church in Coweta. Jimmy married his first wife, Edna Faye Roberts in 1958. Two children, Paula and Leroy, came from this marriage. He joined the US Army in 1966 were he served as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War.  He returned to Tulsa after his discharge in 1968. Soon after returning to Tulsa he went to work for Home Juice Company. Around 1970 he moved to St Louis, Missouri and went to work for Folsom Distributing Company a representative for Home Juice.  In the early 70’s he married JoAnn. His daughter, Lisa was born of this marriage.  Jimmy later married Mary. His youngest son, Brad was born in 1979.  Jimmy transferred to Jefferson City, Missouri in 1987 when Folsom opened an office there. He was Vice President when he retired after 28 years. Jimmy married Mary Kathleen “Kay” Goodman on May 16, 1996 in Illinois.  They moved back to Oklahoma after his retirement from Folsom. They have shared over 22 years together.  After returning to Oklahoma, Jimmy went to work for Standard Distributing Company a Complete Convenience Store Supplier where he worked as a Merchandiser for over 20 years.  He was still working full time for Standard at the time of his death. Jimmy loved what he did and it showed in not only his dedication to Standard but his dedication to his customers.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy was a 53-year member of the Wood River, Illinois Masonic Lodge 1062.  He recently received his 50-year pin.  He was not currently an active member but was very proud of being a Mason, a Shriner and member of the Scottish Rite.
