October 2, 1919 - June 2, 2009
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM ~ Thursday ~ June 4, 2009 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Broken Arrow, OK. Viewing will start 9:00 AM Thursday morning at the funeral home. Ana Mercedes Cabrera Ellis (Chela) transitioned into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ while sleeping at her home in Tulsa, OK on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Ana was a loving and devout daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sibling and friend. She was indeed a manifestation of God’s love and forgiveness, a worshiper and a pray-er. She migrated from her country of origin with family members to the Bronx in New York in August 1962. While in New York, she worked as a seamstress in the needle work industry for over 20 years. At the young age of 17, Ana began her life of service to the Lord Jesus Christ and others. She served everyone with humility and love &she was loved by all. Ana was well known as an excellent teacher of God’s Word and functioned in that gifting for nearly 25 years. She served as a member of the Board of Directors at the Iglesia Cristiana Discï¿Âpulos de Cristo, a church she co-founded, along with other family members, in the Bronx in New York. Ana also served as an Advisory Board member for Hannah Ministries, Inc. Ana often walked alone to street corners of a Bronx impoverished ghetto to share the love of God with those addicted to a variety of unhealthy lifestyles. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, Ana responded she wants to be remembered as a true Christian who lived out the Word of God. Indeed she leaves a legacy of a model Christian to her lineage and to all who knew her. While heaven rejoices to receive her home, Ana will be sorely missed by family and friends. Like Paul the apostle, Ana can exclaim, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8) Her works will live on throughout eternity for she fought the good fight of faith until the end! Her children arise up, and call her blessed; (Proverbs 31:28a) We will see her again!Survived By: Preceded in death by: her parents, Juan Agustin Cabrera and Maria Luisa Ellis; husband, Francisco Hernandez Gonzalez; sons, David Hernandez Cabrera and Abiatar Hernandez Cabrera; brothers, Fernando Bernua, Juan Agustin Ellis, Pedro Pablo Cabrera; sister, Ramona Ellis; uncles, Alejo Cabrera, Jose Cabrera; aunt, Agnes Simon; several nieces and nephews.
