January 21, 1917 - February 20, 2020
A great woman died today, she was our mother. She never asked much out of life, only that her children stay close so that she could be there at any time to help them. She had two daughters, Carolyn and Judith, and she devoted her life to them. There was nothing in our lives that was too trivial for her to sit and converse about. The same went for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a listening and attentive ear for all. Mama loved us all. We were her world. She was born on January 21, 1917 in Keokuk, Iowa to George William and Fanny Mary Shafranek Keefover. When she was a young girl, they moved to Ramona, Oklahoma, where she graduated high school. She worked all her life. She began working in Collinsville Oklahoma until her divorce, and she moved to Tulsa. She worked for Safeway for many years until her retirement. She married Oney Salyer in1973, and they eventually moved to Bixby, Oklahoma, where they became involved in raising and exhibiting roses, a great love they shared. Mother also raised african violets and loved house plants. Mother loved to cook and can. Everything she cooked was from scratch, and made with love. An iron skillet and a rolling pin. That was all that was needed for the best hamburgers, pies, and cobbler around. She loved her family and babysitting her grandchildren, and being there for them whenever they needed her. She loved her great grandchildren too. She was loved by all and will be missed greatly and endlessly . She left us during the early morning hours of February 20,2020. She did not want to leave us, and fought valiantly to stay, but her body would not support that effort. She was 103 years of age. Mama loved us to the end, and is doing so from beyond, and is waiting to love us there. She leaves behind two daughters, Carolyn Lee, Judith Harris, and grand children, Randall Oliver (Jennifer), Amy Ross (Shoan Marr), and great grandchildren Kylee Ross, Jacob Oliver, and Kendall Oliver as well as other family members. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23 from 2 pm - 6 pm, and Monday, February 24 from 8 am - 8 pm. Private burial will be held at a later date.
