Betty Ruth Cobb Dilley, 90, of Norman, died from complications of pneumonia on April 25, 2013. A grandchild of Indian Territory pioneers, she was born to Hazel Ruth Best Cobb and Phil Hunter Cobb in Okmulgee on December 12, 1922 and grew up mostly in Wagoner and Henryetta. On September 18, 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Elmer E. Dilley, also of Henryetta. A member of the “Greatest Generation”, Betty Ruth was frugal, loving, tenacious, generous, funny, compassionate, smart, witty, eccentric, and fiercely loyal. Acquaintances frequently described her as “such a sweetheart!” She spent most of her adult life in Broken Arrow, enjoying vacations camping and fishing. She moved to Norman in 2003 to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister and best friend Dorothy Cobb Scheirmann, brother-in-law Richard Scheirmann, nephew Johnny Determan, and her “Sweetie” and husband of 57 years Elmer Dilley. She is survived by son Jack and his wife Carol of Livermore Colorado, son Jim and his wife Nancy of Norman, grandchildren Adrian and Tracy Dilley of Oklahoma City, Adam Dilley of Livermore Colorado, and Amanda and Lynn Hixon of Tulsa. She is also survived by her two beloved great-granddaughters Aspen Dilley and Aili Dilley, beloved nieces and nephews and their children, and her long-time dear friend Vicki Dodson of Broken Arrow. Betty Ruth appreciated the care and support from all her friends in the Rivermont Community, Brookhaven Extensive Care and Norman Regional Hospital. She treasured the loving care she received from those at Loving Care Home Health, particularly her acknowledged favorite, Darla. Services 10:00 A.M. Wednesday May 1 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, officiated by Rev. Jeffrey Francis, Ph.D., with burial following.
