Bobby Joe Omstead, 82 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his home in Glenpool. He was born June 6, 1939 in Mission, Texas to his parents, Harry Albert Omstead and Mary Francis Mickle Omstead. On April 17, 1957 he took the hand of Karen Omstead and they were married. Over the next 63 years they formed a beautiful family and shared in many wonderful memories together. Bob is survived by his loving children, Kyle Omstead and his wife Suzie of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Kala Omstead-LaPlant and her husband Gary LaPlant of Jenks, Oklahoma; four siblings, James Omstead and his wife Pat of Terlton, Oklahoma, Alice Katona and her husband Bill of Norman, Oklahoma, Judy and her husband Arnold Hagan and Joanne Omstead; three granddaughters, Kate Omstead, Sydney Looney and Avery Looney; two bonus granddaughters, Jessica LaPlant-Gardner and Sydney LaPlant along with many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Francis Omstead; his wife Karen Omstead; a grandson, Kase Omstead, a sister, Patty Omstead and sister-in-law Shyrl Fiddner-Suitor. After working in appliance repair/HVAC services for Sears in Tulsa for several years, Bob ventured out on his own. He founded Omstead Service Company in 1960, which quickly became the premier HVAC company in Tulsa and the surrounding area. Bob started his company with only one service technician, himself. He drove around town and would stop at payphones to call in to see if he had any customers for the day. Over the years, he built the business into thousands of customers (many multi-generational). Bob was an avid sportsman; he loved spending time outdoors in the company of his family and many friends shooting skeet, fishing, and bird hunting. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends in his motorhome all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. He traveled to many countries for both hunting and fishing excursions. Bob was one of those people that never met a stranger and over the years he accumulated close friendships that lasted his lifetime. Bob’s family was his greatest source of accomplishment and pride. He loved his Granddaughters with all of his heart and he lit up in their presence. He was a doting grandfather and father, always showing his love and adoration. Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Floral Haven's Rose Chapel with Pastor James Lacey officiating. Burial will be private in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
