April 28, 1941 - March 5, 2021
Bonnie Jean Hudson, 79 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, March 5, 2021 at her home in Tulsa. She was born April 28, 1941 in Bristow, Oklahoma to her parents, Elbert Arty Rippetoe and Emma Mae Webb Rippetoe. She married the love of her life, Wayne Hudson on December 28, 1956 and they shared in over 57 wonderful years together before his passing in 2014. Bonnie devoted her entire career to land title and escrow services. She was highly respected in the field both for her knowledge and for her professionalism. In Tulsa’s heyday of development during the 1970’s and 1980’s, Bonnie was the go-to title professional for Tulsa’s preeminent real estate investors, brokers, attorneys and lenders. She was unflappable under pressure, which made her an invaluable team member in complex real estate transactions. To this day, her handprints can be seen on land title documents governing many of Tulsa’s most notable commercial developments—Warren Place, the BOK Tower and Woodland Hills Mall to name but a few. Bonnie’s success in her career was all the more remarkable because she was self-taught. She began her career shortly after graduation from high school as a typist for a local title and abstract company. She remained with the same company for the better part of 50 years, where she rose to the position of president of the company with responsibility for supervision of over a hundred employees and management of abstracting, residential and commercial closing operations for multiple offices. She was a role model and mentor for those who have been fortunate enough to work for and with her. Bonnie served in various capacities to better the land title profession. She was active in the Oklahoma Land Title Association as well as the Association of Professional Mortgage Women. In 1990, Bonnie was named by the Oklahoma Land Title Association as the second recipient of the “Bill Gill Award,” which was established to recognize those leaders in the field who have worked in a professional manner and for the betterment of the industry. The Bill Gill Award is considered the highest honor awarded to title professionals by OLTA. Bonnie’s character and leadership made her the ideal candidate for the award. Bonnie is survived by her three children, David Hudson and his wife Debbie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Cyndi Brawley of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Sheila Ray and her husband Jimmy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Brittani Ray of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Travis and Tyler Brawley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ashley Hudson English and her husband Brad of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Lindsey Hudson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, Bridget, Bradley and Jace English and Logan Harmon all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Kathy Wilson and her husband Danny of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Shirley Franks of Owasso, Oklahoma; and many friends and extended family members.
