Brenda Louise Childress
August 12, 1948 - April 14, 2022
On Thursday April 14, 2022, Brenda Louise Childress devoted wife to Ronald Childress and loving mother to Shan Childress passed away at the age of 73 after a long battle with heart disease and then a courageous battle with brain cancer, surrounded by loved ones. Brenda was born August 12, 1948 in Porum Oklahoma to Ira and Pearl Rector. She graduated high school and enrolled in beauty college to become a licensed cosmetologist. She loved making her clients beautiful and chatting about what was going on around town. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow for over 20 years. Brenda loved to sing in the church choir. Singing was her way to serve the Lord and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many doctors, nurses, medical assistants, and of course friends were entertained by Brenda as she sang one of her favorite hymns “When we all get to Heaven” to them. Every Sunday morning Brenda would arrive early to church so she could shake hands with all her “fan” club as she would make her way to the choir room. Brenda also loved to sing with the First Baptist Church “Joy Singers” Choir. She loved the monthly trips to the area nursing homes to sing to the patients. When Brenda was placed in rehabilitation at Franciscan Villa she would serenade her nurses and assistants as they took care of her. When she was admitted to long term care in the Village Health Care Center she would go to the common area to visit and sing to her new friends she had made at the Center. She loved people and she lived a joyful life. Her pleasant personality was contagious to almost everyone she met. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Ira (Bud) and Pearl Rector; brothers, Claude Rector, Ira (Buddy) Rector; sisters, Ardis Smith and Pearl Coldiron. Brenda is survived by her husband, Ron; her son, Shan - Tulsa Oklahoma, two sisters, Wilma Witt - Murrieta, CA, LaVern Carrol, Midwest City, OK, and one brother, Richard Rector & wife Judy of Gore, OK, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A public viewing is scheduled from 4-6 PM on April 19, 2022 at Floral Haven Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A celebration of her life is scheduled for April 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow. Internment will be held at 1:00 PM at Floral Haven Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Salvation Army Tulsa Metro on her behalf. (Salvation Army Tulsa 11523 E. 31st St. Tulsa OK 74146 (918) 622-7414)
