Carrie Frances SpicerCarrie Frances Spicer, 89, was born on March 12, 1923 to Willie and Esther Roof in Thomas, OK. She spent her early years in Collinsville, Oklahoma where she was raised on the family farm. She married Osbie â??Earlâ? Chambers in 1940 and together they raised three loving daughters and a nephew in Berryhill, Oklahoma. In 1969, Carrie met and married James Spicer. They resided in Tulsa and Jenks over twenty-one years until his death in 1990. Carrie spent her early years working at Montgomery Ward in Tulsa. She later worked as a Credit Analyst at First National Bank and retired after fourteen years of service. Carrieâ??s true passion was found in homemaking. She loved to spend her days baking homemade cinnamon rolls, bread, chocolate chip cookies and pies and blessed others through her baking. She spent many years teaching Sunday School classes at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member for thirty-five years. She recently taught baking classes for seniors at the Owasso Community Center. Lovingly known as â??Nana,â? she truly showed the joy of Christ to others and was a precious grandmother to all she encountered. She was preceded in death by two husbands, two infant brothers, three sisters Margaret Driskell, Opal Parsons and Lottie Ornsby, and grandson Bradley Steinberg.She is survived by: her two sisters, Gail Hinds and husband Charles, Donna Faye Hubbard and husband Richard; her three daughters, Margaret Lowe and husband Ed, Patricia Steinberg and husband Burton, and Earline Lowther and husband Watt; her step son Steve Spicer; her great granddaughter Alecia Shannon whom she raised; nephew Robert Brown; her grandchildren: granddaughter Pamela Buff and husband Fred of Collinsville, OK, grandson Clifton Shannon and wife Kristin of Anchorage, AK, grandson Terry Young and wife Teresa of Sand Springs, OK, granddaughter Rhonda McAlister and husband Jon of Owasso, OK, granddaughter Sonya Baker of Tulsa, OK, and granddaughter Susan Baker of Sand Springs, OK. She had fourteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Carrie went to meet her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2013. Her memorial service will be held at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church, 100 N. Olive, Broken Arrow, OK, on Tuesday, January 8th at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Bethanyâ??s Youth Building Fund.
