Obituary for Chester D. Meiser Funeral services for Chester â??Chetâ? D. Meiser, 80, Broken Arrow, OK, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 at Faith Baptist Church, 2800 S. First Place, Broken Arrow, OK, 74012. Burial, with military honors, will be held following the service at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave., Broken Arrow, OK, 74012. Public viewing will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Floral Haven Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. He died Friday, July 27, 2012 at 12:26 a.m. at St. Francis-South Hospital, Tulsa, OK following a heart attack. He was born on March 31, 1932, at his home in Coshocton, OH, to parents, the late Florence Thelma and George Dwight Meiser. He had one sister, the late Virginia Neal, Duncan, OK and a brother, George P. Meiser, Plainfield, OH. A graduate of the Class of 1950 from Conesville High School, Conesville, OH, he worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad and at the A & P Grocery Store in Ohio. In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean War from 1951-1954 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He continued his grocery business career as a store manager/produce manager with Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store at several Tulsa County locations. He left the Broken Arrow store as produce manager after working for the company from 1957-1982 until the storeâ??s closure. He was a member of the Retail Grocery Clerks Union where he served as the local union steward. To more than provide for his family, he worked two jobs for seven years. He was also employed part-time at Bama Pie, Tulsa, OK, on the “Night Shift” clean-up crew. In 1983, he began a new career in the auto industry working in production for Ford Glass- Tulsa Division. He retired as a member of the United Auto Workers Union after working at Ford for 14 years. He lived in Broken Arrow for 48 years. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Broken Arrow. He was a donor to many charitable organizations. He enjoyed gardening. He was married to Leta Meiser. Survivors include: wife Leta; daughters: Tracy Meiser Solvey, Tulsa, OK, and Stacy (Meiser) Dean, Edmond, OK; grandchildren: Adriane Nichols and husband Jason, Tulsa, OK, Jared Gilliss and wife Annora, Kiefer, OK, Cassandra Dean, Cadillac, MI, and Logan Stenseng, El Dorado, KS; great-grandchildren: Isaac Nichols, Noelle Gilliss, and Lucas Gilliss; brother George P. Meiser and wife Katie, Plainfield, OH; and brother-in-law Glen Neal, Duncan, OK. Other relatives include: Glatha Agee and husband Roger, Tulsa, OK; Michael Spainhower, Broken Arrow, OK; Tayla, Colton, and Hunter Agee, Tulsa, OK; Bethann Roberts and family, Callendar, IA; Michael Ross Spainhower, Oklahoma City, OK; and Dakota Spainhower, Broken Arrow, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to: Faith Baptist Church.
