March 1, 1930 - August 18, 2021
Ellen “Louise” (Horner) Corder was reunited with her husband Kenneth Corder in Heaven on Wednesday August 18, 2021 at the age of 91. Ellen Louise Horner was born on March 1, 1930 to Amos Edmond and Lora Ellen (Anderson) Horner. She was the oldest of 12 siblings. Louise was raised on a farm and often helped with the younger family members. She enjoyed “mothering” her siblings – and any person she felt needed her – right up until her death. Although she might have complained at times about living on the farm when she was younger, she talked fondly of those days in her last few years and the memories she held. At 18 yr old she met Kenneth Corder who would change her life forever. They fell in love and were married on August 12th, 1950 and stayed married until his death in 2009. Ken and Louise gave birth to three daughters – Debbie Robinson of Tulsa, OK; Brenda Thomas (husband Brent) of Las Lunas, New Mexico; and Kay Vincent of Oklahoma City, OK. Louise was a champion of all causes and loved to help others out. She never met a stranger, and would look for people who needed a friend. She was a very talented Bridge player and received her Life Masters. She loved anything active from finding bargains at garage sales, gardening and dancing. Her and her husband both enjoyed several trips in their later years. They took an incredible driving adventure through New England. They both also enjoyed their grandchildren very much – attending their sporting events, taking them to the park, even holding a New Year’s Eve celebration with them. Louise is survived by not only her daughters but Grandson Nathan Shaw, wife Maiko, great-granddaughter Leia and great-grandson Hugo; Grandson Todd Robinson, wife Allison and great-grandsons Cooper and Nash; Grandson Chad Vincent with wife Carrie and great-grandsons Austin and Aidan; and Granddaughter Melanie Alexander, husband Jerome, and great-granddaughter Addie; two brothers, Michael Amos Horner and wife Louise, Patrick Horner and wife Maryann; two sisters, Jane Harvey and Belle Willman – along with multiple extended family members. Preceding her in death besides parents and spouse : one grandson Kenneth Alan Shaw; three son-in-laws, Gary Robinson, Stuart Shaw and Doug Vincent; six brothers, Eugene Horner, Larry Weatherly, William Horner, Jack Horner, Charles Everett Horner and Paul Horner; and three sisters, Maxine Judd, Amail Sue Rogers, and Melanie Jo Tichenor. Although facing death is always difficult, Louise carried a strong faith with her and knew God was going to unite her with so many loved ones waiting to welcome her home. Her legacy and our memories should be the strength and perseverance she showed in the last year of her life, along with her kindness to others. In the end, she was the happiest she had been in years. She lived in a place where she felt she fit and was surrounded by friends and people that loved her. She played Dominos with her friends up until the very end and fought through illness when hospitalized recently just to return home to her friends. She left this Earth on her terms and in the place where she was happiest surrounded by friends and family. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Remembrance. Please check back for a complete obituary. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial to Joy In The Cause, 3939 S Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK 74135.
