Eryka Rodrequez
December 3, 2004 - June 26, 2008
RODREQUEZ – Eryka Renae Boyle – Our Angel, went to be with Jesus the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2008. We fell in love with Eryka, born December 3, 2004, only from a distance at first. Our biological son Ben was born 3 1/2 months premature, December 24, 2004 and spent over 100 days in Tulsa’s St. Francis Hospital Eastern Oklahoma Perinatal Center. We saw Eryka did not have parents or any other family members visit. We saw many of the employees fall madly head over heels in love with Eryka. They would come to work early and stay well past their shifts just to hold her, change her diaper, just to love her. We would watch from a distance, while visiting our son. She was such a gorgeous little angel with such a sweet spirit that drew people to her. From there she was transferred to Bethany Children’s Convalescent Center. We talked about it and decided to be foster parents for Eryka in May of 2005. We spent that summer fighting with DHS to bring her home in the fall of 2005. We were then privileged enough to formally adopt her on June 1, 2007. She was finally ours, but only for a short time. During the time of negotiations with DHS we were told that she was born with meth and cocaine in her system and had a rare genetic disorder called Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS, also known as Ondine’s Curse). We were told she would never walk, talk or eat. She would never be off her breathing machine. Overall, a very poor prognosis. We saw more potential in her than what we were told. We saw how bringing our son home from the hospital improved his health and overall well being and knew that if we could just get Eryka home, the same would be true for her. We saw a great many of our expectations come to pass. She talked, sang, walked, ate orally and was off her breathing machines except for when she slept at night. She was such a miracle! Every day she would fill our lives with joy, whether she was walking around the house babbling, singing or fighting with Ben or Emma (or both!), we loved her. She was adopted but truly our child in every sense of the word. She is survived by: her 5 siblings, Brian, Breanna, Rachel, Benjamin and Emma (and Kayla Springs, her New Jersey Sister!). She completed the Rodrequez 6-pack. Also survived by: her parents, Jeff and Lori Rodrequez; her great- grandparents, Ed and Joan Lindenberg and Thelma Myrick. Her grandparents, Steve and Phyllis Boyle, Peter and Teresa Rodrequez, Kay Hyslop, Roy Hyslop and Lois Panyko as well as many, many nurses and doctors that cared for her and loved her dearly. We love her and miss her horribly but we know she is in the arms of the Lord. We all miss you, “Ka-Ka”. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, June 30, 2008, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave., Broken Arrow, OK (918)252-2518.Survived By:
