Joan Margery Miller

Joan Margery Chappell Miller was the first child of Lula Merl Hamilton Chappell and Leon Ernest Chappell. She was born in 1923 in Darrouzett, Texas. Her parents lived in a railroad car on her grandparentâ??s property and that is where she was born. She attended school in country schools and graduated High School in Laverne, Oklahoma. She was the mother of seven children, five of which are living: Sam Miller, Michael Miller, Debra Miller Tomlinson, Merrill Miller, and Terry Miller.Joan worked in various Broken Arrow School cafeterias for several years. She and her husband, George Ernest Miller, were long time members of The First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They managed the Grand Motel in Grove, Oklahoma for fifteen years after leaving Broken Arrow.In later years, they moved from Grove to Princeton, Texas to a mobile home their son, Sam, provided for them. They helped look after his storage business and enjoyed their new home and community. They were members and George was a Deacon at Culleoka Baptist Church. After George became ill and passed away, Joan came to Tulsa to live with her daughter, Debra. She loved to read and attended Eastland Baptist Church. Dear to her heart was the choir and the vocal specials at the church.Joan loved her children and grandchildren so very much. She was always excited to attend any family gathering. She went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013. Directions to Oakwood are I-35 North to Edmond, turn on 15th street toward Lake Arcadia. Go 2.1 miles cemetery is on left before the Lake.
