Kevin Duane Bowers

September 22, 1966 - May 8, 2022

After spending his life fighting for the United States Army, Sgt. Kevin Duane Bowers fought his final battle against cancer. The fight ended at his home in Tulsa on Mother's Day, May, 8, 2022. Kevin was born September 22, 1966 in Omaha, Nebraska. He spent his early years in Charlottesville, Virginia, before his family moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. After graduating from Stillwater High School, Kevin earned a Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University. Following graduation, Kevin began his career in the army and went on to serve in the 82nd Airborne Division, retiring after 20 years of service. He was proudest of his time serving his country, and enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans. Kevin took every opportunity to join his favorite group, the Combat Veterans' Motorcycle Association. He looked forward to any events and activities in which the group would gather. He especially enjoyed participating in the annual toy run every Christmas. Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Violet M. Bowers, three nieces, five great-nephews and three great-nieces. He was preceded by his father, Dr. Rolland A. Bowers, his sister, and grandparents. A visitation will be at the Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 S. 129th East Ave., Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Monday, May 6 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, 907 N. Garrison, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 17 at 12:30 PM. The funeral procession, by the Combat Veterans' Motorcycle Association, will leave from the Floral Haven Funeral Home promptly at 11:30 AM, enroute to Ft. Gibson.
