Mary Margaret Wimberly Diggdon Wheeler Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A great and giving soul has passed on to continue her mission of friendship and love. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Mary Margaret Wimberly Wheeler was born January 11, 1935, in Altus, OK to Myrth McCurley Wimberly and Harrington Wimberly.Â She died in Tulsa July 26, 2010. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at St. Simeonâ??s Chapel with Father Bill Holly officiating. The chapel is located at 3701 N. Cincinnati Avenue, Tulsa. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Mary Margaret graduated from Mount Vernon Seminary, Washington, D.C. in May, 1953.Â She attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of PiÂ Beta Phi Womenâ??s Fraternity.Â She graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1957.Â Later she earned a BA in Sociology at the University of Tulsa and a Masters in Social Work at the University of Oklahoma.Â Â Â In Tulsa she worked with the Margaret Hudson Program for Pregnant Teens and volunteered for the Tulsa Boys Home.Â Â She married Dr. Philip Diggdon of Princeton, N.J.,Â June 18, 1960.Â Â Mary Margaret worked as a Registered Nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1958 to 1960 and at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans from 1960 to 1964.Â Later, she worked as a social worker in Tulsa and Arkansas.Â Â Â On May 26, 1987, she married John B. Wheeler of Tulsa, Oklahoma.Â They enjoyed golf, bridge, dancing to big band music and travel. Â She retired during this marriage and was blessed with the opportunity to see the world, collecting and sharing postcards and stories. Â They lived in Bella Vista, AR, until his death on February 19, 2010. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â She was a long-time member of St. Johnâ??s Episcopal Church in Tulsa and later a member of St. Theodoreâ??s Episcopal Church of Bella Vista, AR.Â Survivors include a daughter Sarah Myrth Diggdon of Tulsa; a son, David Pentland Diggdon, his wife Jennifer and son Dylan, all of Seattle; a step-daughter Nancy Carter, her husband Alan of Tulsa, grandchildren Tracy and husband Nicholas Like and Rachel; a sister Janis Wimberly Hruby, her husband Alexander Joseph of Duncan, Okla. their daughter Alison Whittaker of Los Gatos, Calif., and their son John, his wife Tinker of Duncan, Okla.,Â Mary Margaret was the youngest member of the Cousins Club, a close group of first cousins and spouses who regularly visited and traveled together.Â The family is grateful for the memories of their time with the strong, lively, Mary Margaret.Â Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimerâ??s Association, Oklahoma and Arkansas Chapter, 6465 S.
