Mary Alice Yarnell was born on January 18, 1927 and passed on January 27, 2020. Mary married Joseph Jerome Yarnell on January 3rd, 1947. She was proud to share his name, her life and love for 73 years. There are so many ways to describe this beautiful woman. Loving and devoted wife, amazing and doting Mother of 4, most loved Grandmother of 10, Great Grandmother of 17, Great Great Grandmother of 1. Cherished daughter and Sister, beloved Aunt of countless nieces and nephews. Mary is not only loved and cherished by her family but clearly holds the title of “ Best Friend” by many. Mary’s love of adventure and travel, seeing new things, joining in with activities that each new adventure had to offer is legend. Mary was an accomplished bowler, was skiing at 80, played cards regularly, loved cooking and baking and is famous for “ The Best Apple Pie” on the planet. She loved family gatherings, picnics, roasting hot dogs, playing with her grandchildren, never missing and event. Mary was a professional skater in her early to late teens. She was member of the Tulsa Skating Troupe and was often the feature skater at the renowned Continental Skating Rink. Mary was known throughout the surrounding area for her elegance on the rink. At 18 Mary traveled to Washington DC to work. She recalled standing in Lafayette Square looking at the balcony of the White House as President Truman announced the end of World War ll. Growing up in the depression, though hard, taught many lessons. Mary passed those lessons to her children and grandchildren - Lessons that will be passed on with the same love and pride they were given. Mary is preceded in death by her Father Edward Moses Parks, her Mother, Nevella Narcissus Parks, three Sisters, Ernestine Martin, Theda Locke, Freda Kennedey , Brother, Robert Edward Parks. She is survived by her Husband Joseph Yarnell of the home, a Daughter, Sheryl Ann Yarnell-Dickson and Husband John Dickson of Grove, Oklahoma, three Sons, Jerry Yarnell of Skiatook Oklahoma, Tom Yarnell of Tulsa Oklahoma and Scott Yarnell also of Tulsa. Grandchildren, Robyn Dickson-Callaway, Robert Dickson, Johnny Dickson, Justin Yarnell, Josh Yarnell, Chris Yarnell, Tammy Yarnell, Robby Yarnell, Jenny Yarnell, Addy Yarnell and a host of great grandchildren. If asked what comes first to your mind when you think of Mary you might hear something like this “Great Cook”,“ Ornery”, “Worst backseat driver", “Wonderful Homemaker” “Lots of Fun” "Always there” “would do anything for you”. If you asked her children, they would say “She is the greatest Mom in the world", "she is “ The Family” She will always be our Mom". If you asked her husband, he would say, "She is my world, the love of my life, she is my wife”. A world without you is unimaginable, so we cannot say goodbye, we will see you soon, we know you are watching, we love you now, always, forever. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at the Floral Haven Family Center on Friday, March 27, 2020 from 4pm - 6pm.
