Richard L Herron

Richard was born on November 17, 1922, in East Aurora, New York, to Earl and Rose Herron. He was the third of three children: Earl, Jr, Richard, and Helen Herron. He moved to Tulsa in the late 1930â??s, and was a private first class on the USS Flint during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945, and married Jo Ella Oliver on June 22, 1946. He worked for Devonian Oil Company (later named Warren Petroleum). He and JoElla had a son, Richard J. Herron, in 1955. He was also the father of two children from a first marriage, Gary Herron and Gloria Herron. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and with his wife owned several lake homes on Lake Tenkiller, Lake Eucha and Grand Lake. He suffered a stroke in 1976 and retired from Warren Petroleum to Grand Lake with his wife. In 1985, he suffered a 2nd stroke and died on January 5, 1985 and was survived by his sons Gary Herron, Rick Herron and daughter, Gloria Herron Cormier.
