Mr. Rupert Paul Norton, 88 years of age passed away at his home in Broken Arrow, surrounded by his loving wife and family.Â He slipped off to heaven peacefully and quietly to join his other family members and especially his precious daughter, Â Nedra who was Â awaiting him just inside that eastern gate.Â He was the son of Rueben and Lula (Byrum) Norton.Â Rupert was born March 28, 1924 in Shamrock, Oklahoma. He was an army veteran of World War 2,Â andÂ Â was very proudÂ of his Â military service.Â Rupert Â was widely known for his decorating graves with flags of fellow soldiers especially in the Broken Arrow area.Â He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for many, many years, retired and then went to work part time for Arkansas Valley State Bank.Â He gaveÂ many gallons of Â blood for the American Red CrossÂ until his Doctor told him no more.Â He was active withÂ the American Legion and the VFW.Â Â When his children were old enough for sports he became their coach and did that for many years.Â He loved to fish and camp out, travel with his family, and loved to play golf with anyone who would play with him, and was an avid die hard fan of the Broken Arrow Tigers, and theÂ Oklahoma Sooners.Â He is survived by his wife Pauline (Hash) Norton, his sons, Mike and Mark, his daughters, Brenda Ray and Glenda Schwartz.Â Â There are numorous grandchildren andÂ several great-grandchildren as well as in-laws, neices and nephews, and a four legged companion named CasperÂ also surviving. Rupert will always be remembered as a family man, and a Â man who loved God and his country.Â Rev. James Stone Jr. and Rev. Keith Millis are the officiates.
