March 8, 1938 - March 7, 2013
Sandy was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on March 8, 1938. She left us on March 7, 2013; she was able to celebrate her 75th birthday free of pain. Sandy is survived by her beloved husband, Roger; three children: son Jimmie and wife Jan; daughter Jan; daughter Lee and husband Kevin; along with five grandchildren Angie, Jake, Jenelle, Luke, and Gracie. She is also survived by her brothers Jim, Butch, Gene, Allan, and Boyd as well as sisters Joy, Margaret, Bev, Carol, and Cathy. She left behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. And we cannot go without stating, she left at home her three kitties that she loved dearly, Bullett, Rockett, and Munchkin. Sandy was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Dorothy and Harvey; her father and step-mom, Horace and Jewell; her brother, Lew, and grandson, Cody. Sandy was an LPN nurse until she was led to retirement due to rheumatoid arthritis. Working with newborn babies was her favorite part of nursing. Sandy was married to her hero, Roger, for exactly 49 years and 6 months. They married on September 7, 1963, a mere six weeks after meeting at the Admiral Twin drive in theater where Sandy was working, much to the chagrin of the gal that had been Rogerâ??s date at the very movie where Roger and Sandy met. ? In the earlier days, Sandy enjoyed going to motorcycle races, a little bowling, and playing cards with family and friends. She always enjoyed getting together for a meal or any kind of celebration. She loved to crochet, sew, and cross-stitch. You could find her at all the Oklahoma State home football games standing and cheering and waiving her OSU towel. In more recent years, she turned to talking, texting and shopping on her computer; she was very adept at all those skills! Still always enjoying getting together for a family celebration or a meal when her health allowed it. She was always a voracious reader and put many to shame with her crossword skills. She loved music. She really loved music. Topping her list was Buddy Holly, Patsy Cline, and her favorite, Sam Harris. One of her lifetime highlights was singing with her daughter, Jan, in a background vocal group for Sam Harris. Sandy was a Christian and taught her children at a young age. Even with all the health heartaches she faced, she was still a believer, held her faith, and carried her prayer book to each location whether home, hospital, or nursing center. Her prayer book will appropriately make the final journey with her.
