Trellis Faye Reeves Smith was born in Lena, Oklahoma in 1918 to Francis and Grace Reeves.Â After a very difficult childhood growing up during the Great Depression, she met the love of her life, Darwin Smith, at a July 4th picnic in 1935.Â They eloped on the next 4th of July with enough money in their pockets to buy a marriage license and two hamburgers.Â This was the beautiful beginning of 62 years of wedded bliss. Trellis was a wonderful cook and blessed her family with her special homemade rolls and desserts for many delicious dinners.Â She was a talented seamstress, making many of her own and daughtersâ?? clothing.Â Her childrenâ??s and grandchildrenâ??s homes proudly display her beautiful handmade doilies and quilts.Â Trellis was a devoted servant not only to her family but also to the infants she cared for as a nursing assistant during her employment at both Saint Johnâ??s and Saint Francis Hospitals.Â She was recognized at St. Francis for her perfect attendance for 14 years of the 21 years she worked there.Â Trellis is survived by sister, Selma Castello of Sunnyvale, California; two daughters, Joyce Wehnes of Kingwood, Texas, and Brenda Nur of Lake Forest, California, sons-in-law, Earl Secrist of Broken Arrow, and Ramin Nur of Lake Forest, daughter-in-law, Rosemarie Smith of Norman, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren: Regina Hartley and husband, Ted; Mark Secrist and wife, Cheryl; Mike Secrist and wife, Gina; Jeff Wehnes; Melanie Walenciak and husband, Jim; Darwin Smith, III, Â Jamie Duplechin and husband, Glenn; David Smith and wife, Clelleen; Nason Nur and wife, Emmy; Anisa Nhan and husband, Johnny; Ari Nur, and Samaan Nur; 18 great grandchildren: Megan Secrist, Jaret Secrist, Allison Hartley, Joshua Secrist, Jordan Secrist, Regan Duplechin, Matthew Hartley, Mason Secrist, Cody Walenciak, Joseph Secrist, Sydney Duplechin, Dillon Walenciak, Walker Secrist, Morgan Secrist, Colby Duplechin, Kasey Duplechin, Caden Smith, and Nathan Smith; and one great, great granddaughter, Makina Trellis Wratten. She is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Smith, Sr., and her son, Darwin Smith, Jr., and recently by her daughter, Dolores Secrist. Services will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, March 30,at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow with viewing on Thursday, March 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.Â Â Donations may be made in Trellisâ??s name to the National Osteoporosis Foundation at https://my.nof.org/donate.
