November 14, 1970 - August 2, 2013
Celebrating the life of Herbert John Stauffer III. He lived until he was 42 years old. His parents are Herbert and MaryLou Stauffer. He was the first of three children. He started his academic career at Coweta public schools and concluded his high school tenure at Checotah High School. He earned his high school diploma from Checotah High School. He worked as a boat manufacturer at Predator Boats after high school, then he continued working on boats at Blue Wave Boats in Tulsa. Trey then began work at Daltile, where he worked for nine years. He lived in Checotah, Oklahoma. He was married to Cheryl Stauffer on April 9, 2010. Trey was similar to Will Rogers in that he never met a man he didn’t like. Trey had numerous friends, and they never questioned his love for them, as he expressed it whenever he had the opportunity. The most important events in his life were the births of his son and daughter, Dylan and Sydney Stauffer, the births of his niece and nephew, Rachel and Cross Stauffer, the recent graduation of his son Dylan, his marriage to Cheryl, the first time he drove a car, the first time he fixed a car, the first time he drove a boat, the first time he bought a boat, any chance he had to be benevolent or philanthropic, and every Wednesday, because that meant he only had a half day of work. His favorite hobbies were, fishing, hunting, boating, listening to music, watching movies, working on puzzles, celebrating a Steerlers or Sooners victory and telling stories, Trey did not prefer a particular genre of music. If it made him feel good, he played it. Some of his favorite artists were Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Justin Timberlake, and he was fond of Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke. Trey also played suggestions. As long as it made him dance, he played it. Trey is survived by his Father and Mother, Herbert and MaryLou., his brothers Andy and Greg, his wife, Cheryl, his children, Dylan, Sydney, Shane, Amber, Michael, and Ashley. Trey was a self-sacrificing man. He thought more of other people than he did for himself. If any of his friends, family, or strangers needed his help, he would be there before the person ever wondered if he was going to ask why. His life didn’t center around academic achivements, or athletic accomplishments. He was as good as he wanted to be at everything he did.Trey never had to journey to unswept corners of his mind, intrinsically, he knew the meaning of life. Life began and ended with thoughtfulness for others. While everyone around him participated in the rat race, Trey took it slow. He drank a few beers, listened to music, drove his truck under the moonlight, loved his family, loved his wife, and most imprtantly, he touched many lives. Trey was a man who will be remembered as a life short-lived, but those who know Trey best know he lived everyday as it was intended to be, to the fullest. Working hard was a struggle when it was hard work, but he never struggled beause he worked hard. Trey spearheaded every feel good moment when he was around because he felt it was his duty to make people feel good. Trey danced off-beat and sang off-key, but where he differed was his integrity. Trey was an honest and sincere man, he brought out the good in everyone because he knew how good they could be. Although Trey’s death is an unfortunate circumstance, he can live on through each of us if we will remind ourselves of the important parts of life. Love, friendship, kindness, and loyalty. Trey was never afraid of being himself. His final gift to us is reminding us of how special and short life is, but if we cherish life, and live life true to our hearts, we will seldom endure sadness. “Do not go where the path may lead,go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Ralph Waldo Emerson We will never forget you, Trey. We love you.
