Ada Lee Heffernan's Obituary
Ada Lee Green Heffernan went home to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning January 9, 2017. Ada was born to Lee Franklin Green and Lydia Hise Green in Haskell, Texas on May 24, 1935. She will be greatly missed by all. She lived her 82 years to the fullest despite being very shy growing up. She attended primary school in Haskell then graduated high school at Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas. She married Oran D. Heffernan on May 9, 1959. Shortly there after, they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and then on to Tulsa where they lived and loved for over fifty years. She worked as a key punch operator (now called data entry) at Nelson Electric when a computer took up a whole room, a nail tech, a tax preparer for H&R Block and then she stared her own tax preparation business. Ada enjoyed a vast array of hobbies, from cross stitch, crochet, sewing, and quilting, to gardening, canning and cooking, to fishing, camping, boating and traveling to flying a plane. She received her pilots license at age 50 and had her own plane. She was also a member of The 99s, a non-profit International Organization of Women Pilots est. 1929. She and Oran would use their long hall way to plot fight and vacations all over the country visiting friends and family. As a world traveler she visited over a dozen other countries bringing back gifts and funny stories. But she loved spending time with her family the most. Ada was preceded in death by her loved ones; husband, Oran D. Heffenan; her parents, Lee and Lydia Green; her in-laws, Alvin and Opal Heffernan; her brothers, Floyd Green, Murl Green and Albert Green; sister-in-laws, Joan Green and Winona……Green, Alberta Heffernan, Margie Heffernan, Loise Heffernan, Mary Lou Heffernan; brother-in-law, Alvin Heffernan Jr. and many cousins and friends. She is survived by her children, Pamela J. Bennet of Arlington, TX; Marylin Sims of Grand Prairie, TX; Kathy Rolston of Tulsa, OK; Caroline Royske of Burlington, Wisconsin; DeMorris Hash of Garland, TX; and Donna Heffernan of Tulsa, OK; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. She loved you all bushel and pecks and hugs around the neck. Please join us for visitation on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2-8pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home and Celebration of Life services will be Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11:00am in the Rose Chapel at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
