Alan Ray Johnson
Alan Ray Johnson, lovingly known as "Papa," passed away peacefully at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the age of 71.
Alan was born on July 10, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Glen Buick Johnson and Betty June Tedder Johnson. He was a man of intelligence, dedication, and strong character whose love for learning remained evident throughout his life.
He earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Tulsa Junior College and an Associate Degree in Arts from Tulsa Community College. Throughout his career, Alan built a reputation as a skilled and knowledgeable professional. He worked for Bama Pie, Tulsa Regional Airport, and CBRE. His accomplishments included earning a Universal Refrigeration Certificate, becoming a First-Class Stationary Engineer, obtaining a State of Oklahoma Boiler Operator License, and achieving the designation of Mechanical Journeyman. He took great pride in his work and the expertise he developed throughout his career.
On April 21, 2013, Alan married the love of his life, Audrey de Rooze. Together they shared many wonderful years filled with laughter, dancing, companionship, and unconditional love.
Alan had a passion for reading, studying history, and watching crime documentaries. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on his favorite football teams, and spending time with those he loved most. His greatest joy came from playing with his granddaughters, dancing with his wife, and caring for his beloved pets. Alan also found great fulfillment through his work with the literacy program, where he devoted his time to helping others learn and grow through reading.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Betty Johnson; his brother, Michael Johnson; his sister, Karen Sue Johnson; and his niece, Deborah.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Audrey de Rooze; his daughter, Lindsey Garroutte and husband Zac; his son, Ryan Adams and wife Amanda; and his treasured grandchildren, Crosby, Marley, Maeven, London, and Kolbie Jo. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Lynn Drake, Patti Neuroth, and Jane Carpenter, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1221 North Elm Place, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The service will be officiated by Justin Carpenter.
Alan's life was marked by faith, perseverance, and a genuine love for others. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, hard work, and devotion to family. Those who knew him will remember his warm spirit, his love of learning, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures.
"I'm not perfect, but I keep my eyes on the One who is."
Those words reflected the faith that guided Alan throughout his life and continue to inspire those who loved him.
