Albert Clare "Bill" Goode's Obituary
A son was born to Leo and Ethel Goode named Albert Clare, “after his two grandfathers. With such a name he was soon called ‘Bill,’ no one knows where this name came from but it stuck with him ever since”. “He spent the first 6 months of his life in Calif.. In Apr. 1926, he left Calif. and started a journey to land of the ‘Oakies.’ He left LA on a Sante Fe train and went by way of Barstow, crossing the Mohave Desert to Needles, then to Albuquerque, NM, on to Woodward and eventually Alva (arriving on Easter).
Bill attended grades 1 thru 9 in Watonga, OK before moving to the family farm (880 acres) west of Geary, OK in 1939. He excelled in wrestling at Geary High. He graduated Geary High School in May, 1943. After graduating high school, Bill worked on the railroad in Illinois before joining armed services.
Bill enlisted in Army Air Corp, Dec. 23, 1943; Honorably discharged Oct. 31, 1945. Bill attended college at OK A&M starting in Jan., 1946. Graduated from OK A&M with BS degree in Geological Science in May 1951. He remained true to his Cowboys and enjoyed following their wrestling program.
Bill met the love of his life, Geneva Henry of Mountain View, OK and married her Dec. 26, 1953. The young couple moved to Tulsa, OK where Bill started his career as a geologist in the oil field service industry with Core Lab in Tulsa, OK. During this approximately twenty-five-year stint, he spent 9 years in various South American countries, including Columbia and Venezuela.
In 1978, Bill started his own business, Goode Core Analysis Services, in Bakersfield, CA. After ten years of chasing rocks, Bill sold his business and retired in 1988, moving then to Tulsa, OK to be near family in 1996. Bill continued living in Tulsa enjoying retirement and participating in family activities. He looked forward to settling world problems over coffee at the Village Inn until the end of Oct., 2020. Bill started experiencing health issues and needed to sell his home and determined he required daily help. A perfect option to further his retirement came up in Bartlesville where he was closer to a brother and a sister that could check in on him daily. Bill moved into Green Country Village, in Bartlesville, OK where he enjoyed new friendships and interaction with a whole new community of friends.
Bill passed away peacefully at Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK with family by his side. Services by Floral Haven Cemetery, Broken Arrow, OK, Dec. 28, 2023, 10:00 AM.
He is survived by Robert E (Bob), Alfred Wayne (Buck), Dixie Lee, and Mary Arthel (Artie), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Geneva, Parents, Leo and Ethel Goode, brothers, Richard (Dick), Jimmy Dale, Arthur Max, and Jerry Dean
