Alexandra Ruth Wager's Obituary
Alexandra (Sunni) Ruth Wager, a beloved volunteer at Gilcrease, passed away on January 20, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on January 9, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Howard and Maddie Ruth (Clay) Barnett (divorced).
She is a proud graduate of Will Rogers High School Class of ’56’. She married her high school sweetheart, Homer Wager, also WRHS ‘56’ graduate on September 1, 1956. Homer was in the Air Force soon after and Sunni was his proud Air Force wife. She later obtained an Associate Degree from TJC in Transportation and Traffic Management, holding various positions in this profession in Tulsa.
Sunni had a zest for life that was reflected in her passions for snow skiing, TU Football (as a loyal season ticket holder with Homer), and traveling. Her fascination with archaeology found her volunteering with dedication at the Gilcrease Museum. She had a deep appreciation for all things Indian and Southwest, collecting art, jewelry and books of history.
Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she practiced daily prayer and Bible study. She and Homer served at 11th Street Baptist Church in Tulsa for many years, and most recently an active member at Braden Park Baptist also in Tulsa.
Sunni's family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Shannon Waggnor, Michelle Bechtold and her husband Norman, and Sally Borrell and her husband Mike; her grandchildren Joe Waggnor and his wife Kerry, Cortney Roberts, Kendal Keith, Kyle Keith and wife Delisa, and Karla Roberts; and her great-grandchildren Kenzie, Dannika, Kelsey, Dakota, Hollie, Danika, Bella, Kade, and Paityn.
Alexandra was preceded in death by her parents, Mike (Bomps)and Ruth (Grammie) Pagliaro; her dear husband, Homer Wager; and her grandson, Marshall Roberts; and her long-time best friend, Sharon Thomas.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Braden Park Baptist Church, 4739 E 5th St, Tulsa, OK 74112.
Alexandra's legacy of love, dedication, and faith will be remembered by all who knew her.
