Alfred "Al" Schnackenberg's Obituary
Alfred Theodore “Al” Schnackenberg, 87, of Tulsa, OK went to be with our Lord on June 15, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born December, 1927 in Chelsea, OK to parents Theodore and Mathilda (Wacker) Schnackenberg.Al met Regena (Fine) Schnackenberg in Tulsa in 1956 and they were married August 16, 1958 in West Fork, AR. They resided in Tulsa, OK and spent 56 wonderful years together. They had two daughters, Linda and Diane.Al was the sixth of seven children and was raised on a farm located halfway between Chelsea and Adair, OK. He was baptized in 1928 and confirmed his faith in 1941. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1946. After graduation he worked on the family farm with his dad. He then served in the Army from 1954-1956. During that time, he served in Germany as a Topographic Engineer in the survey platoon and served as the unit’s translator. He attended Tulsa Business College while he was employed at Wesche Company as a Warehouse Manager. He retired after 31 years. He became a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tulsa in September 1958, and was active serving in many areas. He served as an Elder for over 30 years, sang in the Choir for over 40 years, and served as the Chairman of Evangelism as well as the church’s Endowment Fund. After retirement, he stayed busy delivering Meals on Wheels, working at various part-time jobs, traveling with Regena to all 50 states, and enjoying his grandchildren.He is survived by his wife, Regena Schnackenberg; siblings, Edna Kunkel and Melvin Schnackenberg; daughter Linda Young and her spouse Kelly, daughter Diane Williams and her spouse Steve; grandchildren Brandon Williams and his spouse Nicole, Ashton Williams, Courtney Sauls and her spouse Garrett, and Casey Young; great-grandson Jaden Williams; along with countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know him.Al continued to sing his favorite songs, which he sang as solos in the church, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art” up until the day he died. He touched the lives of so many with his smile and sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, reference to Endowment Fund, 146 S. Sheridan, Tulsa, OK 74112.Visitation will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Sunday and Monday from 12 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 146 S. Sheridan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:30am.
