Alice Annetta (Kelly) HargroveShe almost made it! Six days before her 99th birthday, Alice Annetta Hargrove, AKA Nana, passed peacefully away on Sunday, November 11, 2018. Born on November 17, 1919 in the village of Hockerville, OK, Alice was the third child of Roy Neal and Pearl Viola Kelly. She was the oldest girl in their family of 6 boys and 5 girls. After moving to Baxter Springs, Kansas, her father worked as a miner in the lead and zinc mines in Quapaw, OK. Learning to cook, clean and sew she began to care for her younger siblings at a very young age. She graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1938.Alice married Ray Hargrove of Miami, OK on March 3, 1939 and became active in the Eastern Star and the Methodist Church . Ray and Alice were blessed with three children, Annetta Louise Hargrove in 1942 and twins, Johnnie Lee and Connie Rhee Hargrove in 1945.In 1953 the family moved to the Brookside area in Tulsa, Ok where they joined Trinity Methodist Church. Alice worked for a few years as a cook in the cafeteria of Holmes Elementary School. An opportunity came about for her to be employed by Clarks Upholstery in 1955 where she remained their office clerk and receptionist for over 15 years. During that time, she became very active in the Society of American Business Women and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Alice and Ray both retired and enjoyed being a part of the Masonic High Twelve, traveling with dear friends across the United States.Alice was an accomplished seamstress, always making dresses for her girls and baby blankets for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each of the blankets was different and unique to each child. In 2006 her husband, Ray passed away and she decided to move from the family home into a senior apartment. There she continued to make friends with everyone, playing bingo and dominoes and sharing her famous recitations which were loved by all. At the age of 92, she competed in the Mrs. Senior Oklahoma contest and gave her own recitation called “The Person I Most Admire, My Husband”.Alice Annetta Hargrove was preceded in death by her parents, nine of her siblings, her husband, Ray and daughter, Connie. She is survived by one sister, Doris …….. McGuire of Tulsa. Surviving their Mother is daughter, Annetta Louise Dearing of Magnolia, TX, son, Johnnie Lee (Jean Ann) Hargrove, of Verdigris, OK; grandchildren Shelly Sullivan(Pete) of Magnolia, TX, Andrea Haynes of Willis, TX, Jill Sawyer (Keith) of Cypress, TX, Debbie Miller (Robert) of Cleveland, OK, Jayme Tips (Jonathan) of Columbia, MO, Robert Hargrove (Shelley) of Claremore, OK, Kristi Kae (Buddy Allen) Ogden of Claremore; great grandchildren Kyle and Jenna Sullivan of Magnolia, TX, Andrew, Jeff of Willis, TX and Josh Guinan of Willis, TX and currently servings in the US Navy, Ryan and Reagan Haynes , Camryn and Tristan Sawyer, Kendall Welden (Tyler), Lane Miller, Zach, Emma, Abigail and Levi Tips of Columbia, MO, Benjamin and Blake Hargrove of Claremore, OK, Christopher Frazier(Jessie), McKenzie Couch and Cade Allen Ogden of Claremore, OK; great-great grandchildren, Kennedy Grace Froman, Jake and Charli Jo Frazier, Chevy John and Conway Lee Welden; and will be remembered by many other family members and friends.A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 12:30 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.Honorary Pallbearers: Grandchildren – Shelly Sullivan, Andrea Haynes, Jill Sawyer, Debbie Miller, Jayme Tips, Robert Hargrove, Kristi Ogden
