Alice Marilyn McManus' Obituary
Alice “Marilyn” McManus
March 9th, 1933 – December 7th, 2022
Marilyn was raised in a loving home, by her mother Marie and father Peter Gainor and was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Visitation Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school, located in Dubuque, Iowa.
It was in Dubuque where Marilyn found the love of her life, Ramon McManus. The two were wed in May of 1955, following Ramon’s tour of duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Together, Marilyn and Ray had six children. She spent her early married life as a Homemaker and raised their children, instilling the couple’s strong Catholic faith within them, while living in Iowa, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.
As their children grew, Marilyn pursued a license in Real Estate. Upon earning her license, she was employed by Century 21 as well as McGraw Realtors. In the years that followed, Marilyn entertained her love for fine jewelry, by working at Bachendorfs of Dallas/Burlington Jewelry in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Marilyn cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed interior decorating, traveling, antiquing, working in her flower gardens, and collecting recipes. She had a passion for debate, and an “exceptional” fondness for shopping. It was with very little effort that she engrained this exceptional fondness into her daughters, ensuring that this tradition will continue until the end of time.
Actively involved in parish activities, Marilyn was comforted by the love of her faith, family, and friends, for 89 years. She was deeply in love with her husband, Ramon, for 66 years, before his passing in July 2021.
She loved her children and found their partners a special joy throughout her life.
