Some of my favorite childhood memories were of Christmastime with the Hallford side of my family. Whenever Aunt Alice would draw my name for the gift exchange, she would choose something that would foster my creativity. I was a kid who would draw on anything she could get her hands on, and Alice was my artist aunt! One of her oil paintings still hangs in what was once my dad's home office. He was very proud of it.
Alice's broccoli rice casserole that she would bring to Granny's house for Christmas Day lunch was that it was THE best thing I had ever tasted in my childhood. I truly looked forward to it every year.
