Allen Lee "Al" McCorkle's Obituary
Allen Lee "Al" McCorkle, 76, of Tulsa, died Thursday, June 27, 2013.He was born June 7, 1937, the son of Roy and Nora (Burris) McCorkle in Chautauqua, Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and served his country until being honorably discharged from the military in 1959. On August 16, 1960, he married the love of his life, Mayva Jane Hoffman, at the First Christian Church in Arkansas City, Kansas. They made their home in Las Vegas, NV for 19 years, before returning to the Tulsa area with their family in 1986. Al and Mayva had many wonderful years together and were blessed with three sons. Al had worked for TWA as an aircraft mechanic and took great pride in his work. He is survived by his loving wife, Mayva, three sons, Mike LeRoy McCorkle, and his wife, Lisa, of Houston, TX, Mark Allen McCorkle, and his wife, Stephanie, of Hawaii, and Mitch McCorkle, of Tulsa, grandson, Samuel McCorkle, two granddaughters, Katia McCorkle and Shayla McCorkle, brother, Frank McCorkle, and sister in law, Kathleen, and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Gwen Keen. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 10:00 am, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Danny Borrell, officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm, with the family receiving friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made in Allen's name to the John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa, OK.
