Angela Dawn Drake's Obituary
Angela Dawn Drake, a resident of Jenks, passed away October 18, 2018 at the age of 53.Angela Dawn Sands was born June 17, 1965 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Her parents, Don and Bonnie Sands met through mutual friends who asked them to serve as the best man and maid of honor in their upcoming wedding. Don and Bonnie were married shortly thereafter and will soon celebrate their 60th anniversary!Angela has one brother Derrick Sands, his wife Carrie, three nieces, Erica, Drea and Bri, whom she loves dearly, two great nephews and another great niece or nephew on the way. “Auntie” as she is called by her nieces, is the fun aunt, always ready to play, shop and have a good time. Fashion has been part of Angela’s personality, her favorite color is purple.She graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1983, attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from Oral Roberts University. Angela met Kevin Drake at a Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church singles retreat while he was dating someone else. Kevin subsequently got the nerve to ask Angela out which ultimately led to their marriage in December 2001.After working as a retail manager, for Cache and David’s Bridal, Angela decided to sell residential real estate and became a new home sales executive for Simmons Homes.While she worked hard, Angela also liked to have fun. She enjoyed going to concerts, traveling to Colorado to hike, Seaside Florida to zip line or taking a Caribbean cruise to snorkel and of course shop. She was ready to dress up, go dancing or just have dinner with family and friends.Angela was very health conscious, going to the gym to do Zumba, eating kale salad and drinking all natural, organic, gluten free, no sugar added protein shakes, while her family and friends ate BBQ.An avid concert goer, she enjoyed music by the Newsboys, Toby Mac and of course Chris Cleveland.Angela was a devout follower of CHRIST. Even during her final days she said, “I just want to glorify GOD” which she has done. Her love for our LORD and her love for people is evidenced by her involvement in Bible Study Fellowship, Asbury’s Host team, Bless the Children Ministry and Celebrate Recovery. Many have shared stories of how Angela has served and blessed them.Angela will be greatly missed by her family, friends, coworkers and others who met her along the way however, for those who know her and also know the LORD JESUS CHRIST we will see her again in her glorified body and at her new home in heaven! The LORD was the focal point of her life and her greatest desire was for those around her to know HIM!Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23rd at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
