Anita Jewell Lucas' Obituary
Anita Jewell Lucas passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022. She was born on January 3, 1939 to Jess Tosh and Louella (Johnson) Tosh, the 5th of 6 children. She grew up and went to school at Colcord, OK and married Charles (Charlie) Lucas on June 18, 1955 at the age of 16.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie, son Steve Lucas, her brothers JT, Jim and George Tosh and her sister Neomi Lofland. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Knowlton and husband Terry Powell; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ryan Vandeveer; Charlene (Charlie) Darrow, her husband Jason and daughters Aubrey and Camdyn; Stefan Lucas, his wife Shandiin and daughters Lydia and Violet; Chad Lucas, wife Shannon, their son Andrew and daughter Abigail; Cesilie (Lucas) Gile, husband Joe, daughters Kylie and Sahvanna and sons Carter and Aidyn; her sister AQ Provost; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anita held several jobs throughout her life, but the jobs she loved most were wife, mom, granny and nanny (great-grandma). She made many sacrifices to take care of her family, but she didn’t regret any of that because, to her, that’s just what you’re supposed to do. One of her favorite hobbies was cooking, and she loved sharing her goodies with family, friends, and friends of family! A couple of her specialties were lasagna and her special chocolate cake. She loved it when the grandkids (as teenagers) and their friends would come by after a school function or Rooster Days and she would always have chocolate cake ready and waiting for them. That cake came to be known simply as “Granny Cake.”With a stubborn streak a mile wide, Anita strongly believed that if something was worth doing, “it was worth doing right”(in other words, worth doing the way she wanted it done)!! She was fiercely independent, strong and strong willed, and also fiercely protective of her babies!! Anita is much loved and will be eternally missed by all who knew her.
