Ann Lois McClain's Obituary
Ann Lois McClain, 66, passed quietly in the company of her family September 15th at her home in Broken Arrow. She had battled cancer for a long time.Ann was born June 2, 1950 in Mt. Vernon Illinois to parents Lois Tucker and Edward F. Gritzbaugh. Her family moved to Evansville, Indiana where Ann grew up and graduated from North High School in 1968. Ann attended Indiana University, Bloomington, earning a B.S. degree in education in 1972.Ann married David McClain of Bloomington, Indiana on May 27, 1972 at Old North United Methodist church in Evansville. The couple moved to Colorado in 1974 where they made a home and a family in Edgewater. They moved again in 1998 to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where they continue to live. Ann’s working career was a para-professional for Jefferson County Public Schools in Colorado and for Broken Arrow Public Schools in Oklahoma.Mrs. McClain is survived by her husband David, her son Eddie of Broken Arrow; daughter Beth Schrader of Arvada, Colorado; daughter Kate Baker of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her sister Gail Degenhart of Evansville, Indiana; and her brother William Gritzbaugh of Tualatin, Oregon. She was grandmother to Brenden and Bailey Schrader and Isaac and Miles Baker. She has fifteen nieces and nephews.Ann had a delightful sense of humor and had the ability to make light out of anything. She was a dedicated mom, wife, friend and teacher. She had an unbelievable heart for autistic children and their families. People were drawn to Ann and her kindness, her willingness to listen and her giving spirit. She was a giver and always put others before herself.Public visitation will be Monday, September 19th from 5pm to 8pm at Floral Haven. Funeral Services and reception will be held at Floral Haven (Floralhaven.com), in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 20th at 12:30pm.
