Anna Louise Allen's Obituary
Ann was so proud of her big, extended family. We miss her already. Anna Louise (Smith) Allen passed away peacefully in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 79. Ann, as she liked to be called, was born August 23, 1936 to Ethel (Easterday) & Robert Ridgway Smith in Billings, Missouri. She had a brother who died at birth. She married Marvin Allen on August 4, 1956. They met when Ann was working at Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. They had 4 children, Lori Ann (Irby), Patti Sue (Borghardt), Terri Lynne (Sensintaffar) and finally the boy they always wanted, Benjamin Everett. She was preceded in death by her beloved Mother, Father and Step-father (Doyle Ellis). Marvin, the love of her life, passed away in 2001. Ann never stopped missing Marvin and we know that was a joyful reunion. Ann loved playing dominoes, cards and practical jokes; but her favorite activity was gathering together with her children and their families. “Gigi” as the grandkids called her, was proud of her 15 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren with a new Great Grandson arriving in July. Gigi was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her 1st Great Great Granddaughter in April. Ann moved to Prairie Village Senior Apartments in 2008 and enjoyed her time there her new ;friends, and was often considered the “social butterfly” of the complex. Ann had made lifelong friends ranging from her childhood in Springfield, Missouri to raising her family in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Tulsa, Oklahoma. In her professional life, Ann was an exceptional bookkeeper and administrative assistant. One of her favorite jobs was at Oral Robert University School of Medicine, where she placed medical students for their residency. Her children remember her for the many things she did for them, like throwing wonderful birthday parties and passing along her love and knowledge of cooking & entertaining for friends and family. When Ann and Marvin moved the family to Nixa, Missouri, Ann learned there was no Girl Scout troop for her daughters to join – so she started one! As far as we know, it is still in existence to this day. Ann would have been 80 years old and her children were planning a big celebration for her. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. Funeral service 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Rose Chapel of Floral Haven.
