Anna Mae (Ganaway) Pitts(Nov 25, 1935 – Feb 2, 2018) On February 2, 2018, Anna Mae (Ganaway) Pitts, age 82, of Bixby, OK, went to be with the Lord.A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, February 10 at 10 a.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK. There will be a visitation on Friday, February 9 between 4-8 p.m., also at Floral Haven. If you would like to make a donation, please make it to the Salvation Army in Ann’s memory. See website www.floralhaven.com for additional information.Anna, best known as Ann to her family and friends, was born in Sharon, TN and grew up in the Ozark Mountains near Newburg and Rolla, MO. After graduating from high school, she moved to East St Louis where she quickly learned to be self-reliant and independent. This was a vital part of who she was and often spoke to her grandchildren about the importance of being able to take care of yourself. In 1955, she married Clifford Herbeck. During that marriage her three loves were born, Charles, David and Denise. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and a treasured friend to many.Ann met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Pitts in 1973 and they married on November 21, 1974. They celebrated 41 years of marriage in 2015. They owned a farm together and she often said that the best times of her and Dick’s life were spent on that farm. She was a member of the Green Country Quilters Guild and enjoyed sewing her quilts for her family. At the 2014 Tulsa Quilt show, her entry quilt, “Flower Penny Garden” was awarded first place and bestowed upon her the title of “Master Quilter”. She was ecstatic. Some of her other hobbies which she enjoyed; gardening, traveling, cooking, playing bunco and quilting. Everything she set her mind to, she excelled.Ann worked for the Tulsa Corps of Engineers for many years. She later became a real estate agent. However, what she enjoyed most was working alongside her husband, whether as the office manager at Dick’s insurance agency or as a rancher at their farm.She is survived by son Charles (Jazmin) Herbeck, Vancouver, WA; daughter Denise (Ron) Sawyer, Jacksonville, AR; daughter-in-law Cynthia (CJ) Herbeck, Sapulpa, OK; stepsons Bill (Joan) Pitts, Kiefer, OK and Eric (Paula) Pitts, Tulsa, OK. Brothers, James (Inga) Ganaway, Delaware. Dan Ganaway, Tulsa, OK; Sister, Eunice Miller, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by parents Amil E and Eura Mae (Trout) Ganaway, brothers Amil Ganaway, Ernest Ganaway and Samuel Ganaway, husband Richard Pitts, son David Herbeck , 2 stepsons Doug Pitts and Loring Pitts and one stepdaughter Maggie Wilkins.
