I worked at Woodward park and in 1984 was given the supervision of the Tulsa Rose Garden. To learn more about roses I went to a Tulsa Rose Society meeting. Anna was the fist person to talk to me. I joined, eventually became President and learned a lot about growing roses. While President my wife and I had our son, at a meeting Anna put together a 'money tree' with donations from the members. I will always remember that.
She loved those grandkids! I remember her going to Ryan's baseball games when she was still barely able to get around. She treated my son, Travis, like another one of her kids. I remember her introducing Trav to her Gnocchi….told him he had to say it correctly if he was going to eat it! A sweet lady with old school charm and grace! You will be missed–Cheryl Teague
My first meeting of Anna Staggs brings a vivid memory of her beautifully styled snow white hair and sweet smile. When I had a chance to see her rose garden in the back yard, I was awestruck with her knowhow of gardening and commitment to creating the perfect rose for competitive floral shows. I still have a miniature 3-D rose arrangement mounted in a small frame that she presented to me. Thank-you Anna, for that beautiful reminder of you. It was an honor having Anna as a mother-in-law. I couldn't have asked for a better grandma for the boys. She generously spent time caring and being with them and she was involved in whatever they had going on at the time. She was a wonderful role model, and she shared her special talents, cooking, roses, etc. Anna was the best cook ever and we/they enjoyed many meals at her house. Her specialties are too numerous to mention but her famous chocolate pie has been shared at every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her recipe's will live on. Her passing makes my little rose garden extra special. Till we meet again, Pat
I wish I could have mastered her skill at making ravioli and pie crust–I watched and I listen to her patient instructions but it was just not the same! I will miss you and your wonderful desserts—Ann still holds the honor of making the best birthday cake I ever had on my birthday! Love the special memories with her, Kathy Staggs
