Annabelle Best's Obituary
Annabelle Best passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 1 month, and 21 days.
She was born on Wednesday November 27, 1929 in Shidler, Oklahoma to James Edward Huckaby and Nellie Emily Hall Huckaby.
She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1947 and went on to earn an Associate in Commerce from Oklahoma A & M College in 1949.
In August of 1949 she married Vern Best, the love of her life. They were happily married for over 54 years and proudly raised two daughters.
As a young adult she worked food demonstration and always attributed that experience to bringing her ‘out of her shell’ to being able to talk to anyone. In addition to being a homemaker, she spent many years selling furniture and running the office at Bargainin’ Bills, American Furniture, Manhattan Furniture and Boulder Furniture stores.
She loved traveling with her husband, family and friends and spent many winters in south Texas and summers in Colorado.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for many years and attended Eastside, Memorial Drive, Park Plaza and 29th & Yale congregations.
She was a very caring and compassionate woman and touched many lives throughout her long life. For those that knew her well, you know she died of ‘TMB’ (too many birthdays).
Annabelle is preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie Huckaby, her baby sister Peggy Edalene Huckaby, her daughter Teresa Allison and her husband Vern Best. She is survived by her daughter, Vernesa Best of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sister Carol Powell of Independence, Kansas, granddaughter Anisa Brown of Spiro, Oklahoma, grandson Shannon Allison and his wife Christine of Tulsa, Oklahoma and great-grandchildren Justin Wade Miller, Teresa Jean Brown and Cameron Dale Allison and many great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to American Cancer Society or to Hope Harbor in Claremore, OK.
Masks are recommended if you plan to attend the services in person and social distancing is requested as much as possible.
