Annabelle L. Hunter's Obituary
Annabelle L. Hunter, a woman of unwavering tenacity, focus, and devotion to family and faith, passed away on July 23, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 100. Born on August 3, 1922, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Annabelle lived a life filled with love, passion, and purpose.
Annabelle embarked on a career as a nurse, starting her journey in the Emergency Room at Eureka Springs. Later, she moved to Tulsa in 1954, where she served as a nurse and office manager for Dr. Terrell Covington for many years. Her commitment to providing compassionate care to those in need left a lasting impact on the lives she touched.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Annabelle had a zest for life and cherished spending time at the family cabin near Ft. Gibson Lake. She had a culinary gift and was renowned for her King Ranch Chicken and other delectable dishes, leaving lasting memories of warmth and joy around the dining table.
Annabelle's commitment to her community was evident in her volunteer work as a dedicated poll worker for many years and her involvement in the Tulsa Garden Club. Additionally, her talent as a quilter showcased her creativity and attention to detail with the ladies in the Mounds and Skiatook quilting clubs.
In the mid-1980s, Annabelle decided to retire, spending her days enjoying gardening, her flowers and quilting. In 1997, she settled in Skiatook alongside her beloved family. She was anything but a typical grandma; her impeccable style and meticulous nature made her home resemble the pages of Southern Living Magazine, a testament to her exceptional taste and attention to detail.
Her love for animals was evident, and she had a special place in her heart for them. However, above all else, Annabelle held her family dear and considered them her greatest treasure. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Jack Hunter, and a loving mother to her son, Jim Hunter, who preceded her in death. Annabelle was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Jan Hunter, as well as her sisters, Annalee Ames, and Dorothy Hull.
Annabelle's legacy lives on through her surviving loved ones, including her grandson, John Hunter, and his wife Lourie of Edmond, OK. Her granddaughter, Maryanne Dover, and her husband Patrick of Hickory Creek, TX, and her memory will be cherished by her great-grandchildren: Levy Adcock and his wife Sarah of Claremore, OK, Lauren Frederickson and her wife Sara of Sherman, TX, Nash Hunter and his wife Ashley of Owasso, OK, Wesley Hunter of Edmond, OK, Gracie Dover of Hickory Creek, TX, and Aaron Hunter of Edmond, OK. Additionally, she leaves behind two great-great-grandchildren, Anna and Levy John Adcock of Claremore, OK.
Annabelle was the eldest of seven children, and she is survived by her four siblings: Charles Weeks and his wife Darlene of Wagoner, OK, Helen Farwell of Collinsville, OK, Bill Weeks of Owasso, OK, and Carolyn Snodgrass and her husband Tom of Tulsa, OK. She will be fondly remembered as "Bebe" to many, symbolizing the love and warmth she brought into the lives of those closest to her.
Annabelle L. Hunter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her unwavering faith, love, and care for her family and friends will remain a cherished memory, serving as an inspiration to those fortunate enough to have shared in her journey through life.
Funeral services for Annabelle L. Hunter will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at 12:30 PM at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place, starting at 11:30 AM.
