Anthony James Economus' Obituary
ECONOMUS – Anthony James, 62, born July 24, 1946, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a brief battle with cancer. A devoted husband, son and father, he will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Born in Independence, Kansas he joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation from high school. He proudly served his country as an airmen during the 1960’s in Vietnam supporting the B52 and other aircraft. It was during his Air Force service that he started a life long career in the aircraft industry. Following his military service he began a life long career in aviation after graduating from the Spartan College of Aeronautics, thereafter making Tulsa his home. Over the years Andy worked building many commercial and military aircraft as an employee of McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, Cessna and Spirit AeroSystems until his retirement in 2006. He took great pride in his work, his craftsmanship, and the dedication he brought to every project. Andy was an excellent mechanic and his hobbies reflected that as he enjoyed working with his hands on cars and do it yourself projects. A gentle and caring man he cherished the joy his family and pets brought to his to life. Married in 1968 to Carol Perkins, he was a loving husband for 41 years. Andy is survived by: his wife Carol, mother Patricia Economus of Independence, Kansas, daughter Carol Lyn, son-in-law David Stevinson, and grandchildren Alexander and Laura, all of Tulsa, son John Economus of Houston, Texas, and 11 nieces and nephews. Preceding Andy in death were his father John Economus and sister Casandra Stichman. His family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at both St. Francis Hospital and St. Francis Hospice for their devoted care, compassion and guidance. If desired, donations are suggested in Andy’s memory to St. Francis Hospice, 6600 South Yale Avenue, #350, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 10:00 a.m. in the Floral Haven Chapel.
