Pierce, Audrey Jean's Obituary
Audrey Jean (Lawton) Pierce peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior in early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Tulsa.
Audrey was born on December 7,1944 in Tulsa, OK, to William James and Wanda Lee (Harrell) Lawton. She was the beloved older sister of Sue Ann Trubachik and Michael Lawton.
She was a long-time west-sider of Tulsa and only left the area for short intervals of her life including part of her childhood spent in West Liberty, Iowa and as a newlywed in Topeka, KS. Returning to Tulsa each time to become an integral part of the West Tulsa community.
Audrey was the first of three generations to attend Park Elementary school, followed by her children and her two eldest grandsons. She Graduated from Webster High School in 1962 where she met Jerald Michael Pierce, her soul mate and best friend.
On April 5, 1963, she married Jerry in Tulsa where they built a life and raised their family. Together they shared 54 years of marriage, family, and love until his passing in 2017.
Audrey was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, or Ma as she was lovingly known, sister, and friend. She had a giving spirit and is remembered by many as a caretaker.
Audrey spent many years as a home maker and stay-at-home mom. Audrey was the mom to 3 Children who will miss her dearly. Michael was born in 1965; James in 1967 and Debra finally joined the family in 1979. Audrey’s biggest point of pride was her children and grandchildren.
She had a giving spirit and is remembered by many as a caretaker and that spirit extended into her working life. She worked hard throughout her life, holding a variety of jobs such as running the snack bar. But volunteering was very important to her, and she began as a candy striper as a teen. Then serving in multiple positions at Epworth UMC for several years and working at her children’s schools. That volunteerism led to a fulfilling career as a Library Assistant at her alma mater Park Elementary School and later Remington Elementary School. Retiring after 17 years of service for the students at Tulsa Public Schools.
Being a Library Assistant was a perfect fit for Audrey. She loved reading and would read multiple books every week. She never lost that love and at the time of her passing she had two library books at her bedside. She taught the joy of reading to everyone that knew her and is something that we will always remember about her.
Audrey never met a stranger and with her warm smile, she made friends everywhere she went. Many friends who understand that the world is a darker place without her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry, and her niece Mindy Trubachik.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Pierce and wife Antonette of Broken Arrow, James Pierce and wife Lora of Broken Arrow, her daughter Debra Pierce of Tulsa.
Her grandchildren include Jerrett Pierce of Bixby, Clifford Pierce of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Lucas Pierce of Tulsa.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings Sue Ann Trubachik and husband George; Michael Lawton and wife Rebecca; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
