Aurelia Reaves' Obituary
Aurelia Reaves, 87, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, in Tulsa, OK. She was born on November 9, 1930 in Havana, Cuba. She was one of nine children born to Florencio and Matilde Menéndez.Preceded in death by siblings: Matilde, Florencio, Fernando, Francisco, Adolfo, Eulagio, and Ana Julia.The prominent Menéndez family had ancestry from Spain. Aurelia inherited the title of Marquesa. She fled to the U.S. in 1960 leaving her family behind. She made Tulsa her home from 1962 until her death.Aurelia had one daughter, Carla, in 1965. She worked as a Translator/Bailiff for Tulsa County for many years. She was an avid philanthropist.In 1976 she married Bill Reaves, lieutenant for Tulsa sheriff’s office, they were happily married for 42 years. They enjoyed traveling together and entertaining their family and friends. They traveled to numerous countries and went on several cruises. Aurelia was always the life of the party.Aurelia is survived by husband, Bill Reaves; brother, Mariano Menéndez; daughter, Carla (Dave) Vickers; granddaughter, Katie (Kaleb) Starns; great-grandson, Asher Starns; nieces, nephews, and friends.Service 3 p.m., Thursday, August 9, at Floral Haven Funeral Home.FacebookTwitterEmailPrintSave
