Barbara Miyoko Nakamura Colagrossi
Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home in Bixby, OK, Tuesday, November 25th.
Barbara was born in Honolulu, HI in 1932 to Hilda & Napoleon Nakamura. She was the eldest of three children.
She attended Washington University in St. Louis, MO where she met her husband of 50 years, Angelo Colagrossi.
She was a devoted mother to Butch Colagrossi and Sandy Thurmond, grandmother to Aaron, Aleigh, Adam, Kacey and Chelsea, and great grandmother to Liam, Linkin and Blakelee. She took special joy in feeding her loved ones, and kept her family together with huge, delicious Sunday dinners.
She enjoyed playing bridge, flower arranging, gardening, reading, going to movies and in her later years watching tv. Above all, she loved being the matriarch of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo, her son Ken (Butch) Colagrossi, and her parents Napoleon & Hilda Nakamura.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Thurmond, grandchildren Aaron (& his wife, Chelsea), Aleigh, Adam, Kacey, and Chelsea (& her husband, Jake) great grandchildren Liam, Linkin & Blakelee, sister Shirley Naito and brother Ronald Nakamura. She will be remembered for the love she brought to their lives.
Her memorial service is Friday, Dec 12th at 10am at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow, OK.
