Barbara Jean Greiner passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on her 82nd birthday. Born in Wichita, Kansas to Floyd Earl Baker and Imogene Bernice (White) Baker. Barbara lived a life filled with love, creativity, and adventure. While attending Emporia State University she married the love of her life Dale W. Greiner on August 31st, 1963. While at ESU she was a member of the Tri Sigma sorority and double majored in physical education and biology. Completing her master’s in physical education before they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where they lived and raised their daughters.
Barbara started out teaching high school PE and community tennis classes, before becoming the Director of Instructional Services for the Ann Arbor Public Schools Recreation Department. Her dedication and leadership left a lasting impact on the staff she employed and the community she served.
A woman of many talents and interests Barabara found joy through the years in travel, gardening, crafting stained glass, pottery, and beadwork, watercolor painting, games and endless puzzles. She was a lifelong tennis player and enthusiast. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world with her beloved husband Dale, traveling to places like Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Cancun, the British Isles, Netherlands and Alaska. They enjoyed many years of travel across the United States and Canada in their RV, embracing the open road and the beauty of nature together.
Barbara’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her daughter, Allison Redick, son-in-law David; grandchildren Grace, Sarah, Nathan (Krystal), Kaleb (Torrie), and Cameron Redick; great-grandchildren Liam, Caiden, Jacob, and Amanda Friday Redick. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Baker (Michele); niece Amy Schwiethale (Nate), and nephew David Baker (Sarah). Greiner nieces, Laura Stasiowski (Bob), Anne Safly (Jason), Meredith Berinobis (Brian), Megan Rodgers (Shane), and nephews Allen and Will Greiner.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Lynne; her parents, F. Earl and Imogene Baker; and her husband, Dale; brothers-in-law Keith and Neal Greiner, and beloved sister-in-law Joyce (Greiner)O’Hern.
Barbara will be remembered for her warm smile, her gardening knowledge and skills, her love of recreation and activities, and her leadership in all things. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
The Memorial service will be 3:00 PM, on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at Covanent Living at Inverness.
The Internment will be at Wahtenong Memorial Park Cemetery in Michigan.
