Barbara Jean McDowell, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 97. She was born on October 1, 1927, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to William Lester and Rosa (Cluck) Hughes.
Barbara built a remarkable career as the collections manager of National Steel, where she began working in 1964. As the company transitioned into Baldwin Steel, she remained a steady and respected presence until her retirement in 2001. Her dedication and leadership left a lasting impact on those she worked alongside.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She carried herself with grace and strength, touching the lives of many with her generosity and warmth.
Visitation for Barbara will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, June 2nd, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor her life will take place at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, June 3rd, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
Barbara’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished. May she rest in peace.
