Barbara Jeanne Painter's Obituary
Barbara Holl-Painter passed away peacefully November 23, 2017 at a medical facility in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Her parents are Alfred Holl and Louise Luce-Holl of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born December 4th 1947 in Topeka, Kansas. As a youngster her family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she attended grade school and graduated from College High School in 1966. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas in 1970. On June 9th 1969 she married Randy Painter in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and finished her degree while Randy was ashore in Viet Nam with the U.S. Navy. The couple then lived a short time in Elkhart, Indiana, then the next four years in Norman, Oklahoma while Randy finished his degree in Occupational Therapy from Oklahoma University in 1976. Barbara substitute taught in the public schools in Okmulgee, Oklahoma starting in1976. Her children Patrick and Jennifer were born there also. The family then moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1980, where they made their home for the next thirty years. Barbara substituted at Hilldale High School, and helped teach at Stepping Stones Preschool. Her final occupation was Office Manager at the Hulbert Therapy Services, a job she loved and excelled in. In 2010 the couple moved to a new home in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she enjoyed retirement living for the next seven years. She is survived by her husband Randy of 48 years, her son Patrick Painter, his wife Jennifer Wengler-Painter, grand children Jacob and Madeline; her daughter Jennifer Painter-Honn, husband Jesse, and granddaughter Zoe. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carol Ann Holl-Lang of Bethany Oklahoma. She was a member of DAR, her Luce ancestors having fought in the Revolutionary War. Barbara enjoyed dance, was an accomplished counted cross stitch artist, and excellent knitter. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enriched the life of the many who met her. Long time friend and Pastor Steve Rose is to officiate at her service and internment at 11:00 Thursday November 30th, 2017 in the Rose Chapel at Floral Haven Cemetery, 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
