Barbara Sue Franklin, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; passed away to be with the Lord on November 29, 2016 at St. John hospital with her family surrounding her. She was 77 years old.Barbara was born on November 27, 1939 in Prue, Oklahoma to Noble and Flossie Combs. Barbara grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Shortly after graduating from Sand Springs High school in 1957, Barbara married Jimmy W. Franklin. They had 3 beautiful children, Kevin, Keith, and Karen Franklin. After 14 years of marriage, Barbara pursued an independent life with her children. Her lifelong career of 40+ years in the Insurance business, working with many local insurance agents as a staff assistant made her a trustworthy guide to all of those around her.Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. They always looked forward to get-togethers at “Gramma’s house”. You could always expect a big smile, a warm hug and a lil’ pat on the butt as soon as you walked in. She would always be next to the stove, whipping up something delicious for the entire family. Although she was very humble about her cooking, the saying “No one makes it like Grandma does” couldn’t be more true. Her many hobbies included spending time with family, genealogy, working on crossword puzzles, playing bunco with friends, participating in the Sand Springs Alumni group, gardening (especially nurturing her azalea’s!), tennis, square dancing, traveling and going on road-trips with friends and family. She also loved El Camino’s, of which she had 4 during her life-time. Her two dogs, Chip and Buffy, were both rescues from a puppy mill. She had a big heart for these two, and they served as her faithful companions until the end. Those closest to Barbara will remember her best by her strong work-ethic, her unconditional love for her friends and family and her fierce determination to face any challenge that lie ahead of her or any of her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Flossie Combs, and her sister, Doris Harger.Barbara is survived by sons Kevin Franklin and wife Carol, and Keith Franklin and daughter Karen Franklin; granddaughter Bevan and husband Rusty Wittner and great grandson, Troy Wittner; grandsons Niels, Jack and Isaac Franklin, and granddaughter Kacie and husband Adrian Bernal; sister Judy Gayle and husband Charles Courter, and brothers Larry Combs and wife Barbara, and Ron Combs and wife Sheri, and her many cousins, nieces and nephews.Visitation services will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 4th, 2016 Floral Haven Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating.Graveside services will follow at 11:00 am at Floral Haven.Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church in Broken Arrow.
