Bebe Evelyn Brown's Obituary
Brown, Bebe Evelyn, 80, of Tulsa, passed from this life on December 6, 2004. Bebe was born August 31, 1924 in Bakersfield, CA. to Claude S. and Edna Lee (King) Clyburn. She moved to Oklahoma with her parents when she was six years old and was raised in western Oklahoma where she met and married Odis Daniel Brown on December 28, 1940. The couple decided to move to California and left Marlow, Oklahoma to live in Long Beach. However, after a brief period, they became homesick for family and friends and returned to Oklahoma settling in Tulsa where she raised four daughters.Her culinary expertise led to her employment in the Tulsa Public School System where she retired after many years as food service manager at Kendall, Patrick Henry and Grimes schools. She was an outstanding cook and took great pride in the food that was prepared at her place of employment as well as in her home.She was also an accomplished seamstress, often sewing for the daughters’ special occasions. She will be greatly missed by the many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose lives have been touched in a very personal way by her handmade clothing and her fabulous coconut cream pie.Bebe was a long time member of the Church of Christ where she took an active role and developed many friendships which lasted throughout her lifetime.She is preceded in death by her husband and daughter Marilyn Porter.Funeral service was held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 13, 2004, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.Survived By: daughters; Juana Meadows and her husband Scott of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Diane Cox and her husband Steve of Tulsa, Shirlee Frazier and her husband Dennis of Yantis, Texas; son-in-law, Larry Porter of Tulsa; grandchildren: Scott Meadows Jr., Brett Meadows, Shelly Cox, Sean Cox, Kim Henson, Torey Porter, Gregory Porter, Cynthia O’Connor, Danny Frazier; many great-grandchildren; sister: Patty Jo Armstrong of El Paso, Texas; brother: Claudie Lee Clyburn of Geary, Oklahoma and numerous nieces , nephews and family members. She is preceded in death by her husband and daughter Marilyn Porter.
